Year 5 (Present)
- podcast 4x’d in subscribers since I stopped posting
- planning another trip to Japan
Year 4
- tried learning Korean, but lost interest because of lack of media
- continued to run my podcast, interviewed 100 people and then stopped posting
- finally visited Japan again after 3-4 years since living there
- still can get around with zero problems, although it isn’t as smooth as when I was living there
- hung out with some friends back from study abroad
- got re-inspired to continue studying Japanese
Year 3
- went to language exchange meetups to use Japanese (and at various restaurants)
- harder to use Japanese in daily life except only online or at certain locations
- continued to run my podcast, interviewed 50 or so of the people I learned from and reached 1000 subscribers
Year 1-2
- graduated from uni, continued studying Japanese
- kept up with Anki (~1 hour per day)
- read 1 hour per day
- applied to japanese school as backup
- ended up not following through with any of them
- started a language learning podcast
Year 0-1
- binge watched Terrace House, got inspired again to learn Japanese

- did 2-3 hours of Anki every day
- 4-6 hours of immersion
- every waking hour was dedicated to Japanese, watched zero content in English this year
- started applying for Japanese companies
Year -1
- visited my friend in Hokkaido who was studying abroad over the summer
- got inspired to learn Japanese
